To ease the task of editing digital geographic data, many of these tasks can be done automatically using KLT WinBatch. This program can also be used to check for data consistency and error correction.
Large amounts of data can be processed with a minimum of operator intervention. For example, WinBatch can take a set of model data files and can automatically load and cut them into map sheets, can join all of the lines at the edges of the models, generate a grid and legend for each file, and add a user defined title block.
WinBatch jobs are first set up using an interactive menu. These jobs can then be executed immediately, or at some later time, as convenient. This allows long jobs to be processed in the background while the operator continues with other work.
WinBatch can also looks for logical errors such as crossed contour lines and improperly placed spot heights, and marks them for post-processing using Atlas. When using Atlas to process these errors, the operator is driven to each of the known problems in turn, and can then edit the data as necessary.
